As we find ourselves moving towards the halfway point of the year, it’s a Grayt time for reflection and introspection. The year, just like any garden, has been growing, evolving, and revealing itself day by day. As we pause at this midpoint, it’s wise to look back at what has unfolded ~ and to contemplate what you would like to lie ahead.
For many of us, we started our year with renewed ambitions. Our resolutions made in January were filled with optimism and determination. By now, some of those goals may have been met as intended, while others may have fallen by the wayside.
I imagine it to always be true, but this has already been a doozy of a year. The coverage of extreme global conflicts is relentless, our polarizing political landscape is a veritable mess, and many communities are facing an unprecedented number of people experiencing homelessness for the first time. In addition, approximately 19% of adults have had an anxiety disorder in the last year, and over 20% of our young people suffer from anxiety disorders and depression in our post-pandemic climate.
The pandemic changed life for many of us. Personal and professional hurdles have tested resilience and adaptability. Yet, I always like to remind us that with each challenge, there has been growth. People have discovered new strengths and capabilities, often surprising themselves with their ability to navigate the unpredictable twists and turns this life can offer.
Soooo…looking ahead, the second half of the year can be fraught with promise and possibility. The lessons learned from the first half of the year (and the years since the world changed dramatically in 2020) provide us a foundation upon which to build. There is a collective sense of uprising and a profound desire for positive change.
But how do we do this? How can we make proverbial delicious lemonade from the lemons dealt to us in the last few years? Of course I will bring up neural pathways and the practice of deliberate creation!
Deliberate creation is the art of intentionally shaping your life by aligning your thoughts, emotions, and actions with your desired outcomes (especially the secret sauce-emotions). It’s the process of being a conscious architect of your reality, taking proactive steps to manifest your dreams and goals. This concept, rooted in the law of attraction and mindfulness practices, emphasizes the power of intention and the role of personal responsibility in the creation of your life experiences.
At its core, deliberate creation is about clarity. It begins with a clear vision of what you want to achieve or experience combined with an open mind ready to accept more and different results. This clarity can truly act as your North star, providing direction and purpose. Whether it’s a career goal, a desired relationship, personal growth, or a specific lifestyle, having a detailed and vivid picture of your desired outcome is essential. This vision should be specific enough to guide your actions but flexible enough to allow for the natural flow of life.
Once you have a clear vision, the next step is to align your thoughts and beliefs with it. This involves cultivating a mindset that supports your goals. Positive affirmations, visualization techniques, and meditation can be powerful tools in this process. By regularly focusing on your desired outcomes and believing in their possibility, you begin to rewire your brain to recognize opportunities and solutions that align with your vision. Neural pathways in action!
Emotions play a crucial role in deliberate creation, as they are powerful indicators of where your attention and energy are focused. Positive emotions like joy, gratitude, and excitement signal alignment with your goals, while negative emotions like fear, doubt, and frustration indicate resistance. By paying attention to your emotional state, you can make conscious adjustments to your thoughts and actions to maintain alignment with your desired outcomes. As I said before, emotions are the secret sauce that make things happen or not happen. Emotions stand for Energy in Motion!
Action is the bridge between your inner world and your external reality. Deliberate creation requires inspired action—steps that feel intuitive and exciting, rather than forced or obligatory. This doesn’t mean that every action will be easy or effortless, but they should feel purposeful and connected to your larger vision. Consistent, aligned action creates momentum and brings your goals closer to fruition.
An important aspect of deliberate creation is trust. Trust in yourself, in the process, and in the universe. This trust allows you to let go of the need to control every detail and to be open to unexpected opportunities and synchronicities. It’s about balancing intention with surrender, taking action while allowing space for the natural unfolding of events.
Deliberate creation also involves resilience. The path to manifesting your desires is rarely (if ever!) a straight line. There will be challenges, setbacks, and inevitable periods of doubt. Resilience is the ability to stay committed to your vision despite these obstacles, to learn from them, and to continue moving forward, regardless of external circumstances.
Community and support can enhance the process of deliberate creation. Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals who share similar goals and values can provide encouragement, accountability, and inspiration. Collaboration and shared experiences can amplify your creative power and help you stay motivated and focused.
In practice, deliberate creation is a dynamic and ongoing process. It requires regular reflection and adjustment. Setting aside time for daily or weekly check-ins can help you stay aligned with your vision, track your progress, and make any necessary course corrections. This practice of mindful reflection keeps you aware of what old and outdated neural pathways you are maintaining and what new ones you are creating.
I’ve written all year about the personal gardens we are tending to. I will continue to remind you to put neuroscience and the Law of Attraction to work for you. I don’t always love the saying, but recently “No mud, no lotus” seems more apropos than ever. Wade through your own proverbial mud and see what you can make grow there. Put energy into your faith, not your fear.
My new documentary, Beyond Physical Matter, can help you further understand how you can harness the power of the quantum world to reach your goals. Once you understand basic neuroscience and the processes of quantum, you may shock yourself with what you can change and achieve. Remember, you truly can make your life Grayt!
